Will my children count as dependents if my husband joins the coast guard?

My husband is looking into joining the coast guard as he has an over strengthened MOS in the Army and we are not sure if he is going to be able to reenlist. I know you can't have more than 2 dependents in the Coast Guard. My children are from a previous relationship but their biological father is AD Army and has them on his DEERS, Tricare etc. I just wasn't sure if he would have to claim them as dependents since they receive benefits from my ex.
