Is this similar to copying?

I made an AMV a few days ago and I got tons of views ad it got successful. Youtube then invited me to make money from ym video, so I told my boyfriend and he said "How do you make one?" and stuff. I told him that he had to have over 1,000 subscribers to become a proper Youtube partner. Now he is Sub4Subbing and I don't think that'll get him anywhere, it takes ages to get that many and plus won't Youtube know?
